The Rec Room: Foodism magazine
Foodism is a bi-monthly glossy magazine distributed free in Toronto grocery stores and cafes. It features primarily sponsored content, geared towards busy but sophisticated urban foodies.
The brief: Three ads for a takeover of the February 2020 issue. Creative should focus on food and drink with a premium feel, and incorporate our other two pillars (games and entertainment) into the copy.
Print was a rarely-used medium for The Rec Room, so we needed to position the brand in this format from scratch.
We were mid-way through redeveloping The Rec Room’s brand guidelines at the time. It was premature to follow our new direction. But I leveraged the insights and findings to pull the essential thread of it into this work, so it wouldn’t entirely live as an island (more of a peninsula?).
